For the first session Dan French, superintendent of the Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union shared his district's approach to transforming schooling. He related historic VT educational goals with current technological possibilities.
VT Fest had a MakerSpace open where folks could see and try new constructive technologies.
I attended a session focused on creating wifi-free scavenger hunts using iPads and QR codes. This could be a great way to pair outdoor education with technology.
Chris Lehmann's session asked some excellent hard questions:
- What is the worst consequence of your best idea?
- How can you mitigate them?
- What are the obstacles to this change?
- How can you overcome them?
Finally, I learned about how two Harwood Middle School teachers are teaching writing across the curriculum.
